Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Old Rag
Let’s head up to Old Rag Mountain, “Shenandoah’s premier hiking experience” and one of the most popular hikes in the mid-Atlantic.

It’s a 9 mile hike so about 5 to 6 hours, and it’s about an hour away. We’ll be going at a medium-fast pace. It’s a fairly strenuous hike with the famous rock scrambling at the top. So don’t join if you don’t enjoy some uphill walking, have a broken foot, are prone to grumpiness, etc.
We’ll be leaving at 8:30 AM, so let’s meet at the Brick Wall at 8:20. THE FEE IS AN ESTIMATE of what we’ll have to pay to split the parking cost at the trail head. Depends on how many people we get and if anyone has an SNP pass.
What to bring:
– comfortable hiking/running shoes
– a snack/lunch (optional)
– day pack (like a school backpack)
– WATER (2-4L)
– a spirit of adventure (not optional)
