Wanna climb a rope? Canyoneering Workshop- BEGINNER 2/28/2025

OVERVIEW

Ready to drop into adventure? Before we hit the canyons of Moab, come get hands-on with essential canyoneering skills! This workshop is NOT mandatory, but it’ll make your Moab canyoneering experience smoother, safer, and way more fun. Whether you’re brand new or looking to refine your technique, I’ll be teaching both beginner and advanced skills, including:

🧗 Rappelling – Learn how to control your descent like a pro.
🔗 Knots & Anchors – Tie, test, and trust your systems.
🔍 Checking Anchor Quality – Because trusting your life to sketchy bolts is not the move.
🔥 Fireman’s Belay – Be the backup your friends deserve.
🧗‍♂️ Single Rope Technique (SRT) & Pull Cord Setup – Get your ropes back without getting stuck.
⏫ Ascending – We won’t be doing this in Moab, but knowing how to go up when you only planned to go down is a game-changer.

Most Moab trips will be beginner-friendly, so no worries if you can’t make it! But the longer you stay, the more you’ll learn. Drop in anytime from 2-6 PM before the bonfire on Friday!

⏳ Quick Schedule:
2:00-3:00 PM – Advanced techniques (SRT, ascending)
3:00-4:00 PM – Anchors & knots
4:00-5:00 PM – Rappelling & fireman’s belay basics, pull cord setup
5:00-6:00 PM – Practice, Q&A, and extra skills based on interest, cover anything people missed
THIS SCHEDULE IS A GENERAL LAYOUT! WHEN YOU COME ILL TEACH YOU WHAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN LEARNING!!
🏕️ What to Bring:
✔️ Water bottle (hydration = happiness)
✔️ Snack (if you’re staying a while)
✔️ Climbing harness & ATC (if you have them)
