Corner of Echols
Corner of Echols
Rose River Fire Road, Syria, VA, USA
Hey all. Over fall break, I went fishing with a friend on the Rose River and discovered an awesome spot for cliff jumping. Since it’s supposed to be in the 70s and sunny on Saturday, I figured I’d lead a trip there!
Hike length: about 5 miles on trail, and a fairly short (but strenuous) bushwhack
Trip Itinerary:
Meet at the Corner of Echols on Saturday at 9:00
Drive 1 hr to the Trailhead
Hike roughly 2.5 miles up the fire road, then bushwhack to the swimming hole/cliff jumping spot
Spend some time jumping and swimming, then hike back
Arrive back at the trailhead at roughly 2:10 pm
Drive 1 hr back and return to Echols around 3:00
Note: This hike will require bushwhacking through rough and steep terrain. Wear long sleeves to protect your arms and legs from being scratched.
What to bring: Lots of water, good hiking shoes, some snacks, a lunch, bathing suit/change of clothes, a towel, water shoes for swimming if you would like
I do not have a car, so someone with a car who’s willing to drive will be prioritized off the waitlist.
It should be a blast, and I look forward to getting some fresh air in the beautiful fall colors!
