Cedar Run & Whiteoak Canyon
This is one of my two favorite hikes in all of Shenandoah National Park! We’ll see lots of beautiful waterfalls up close, and even get to go on a natural waterslide (so please wear a bathing suit!)! The hike is 9.6 miles long and will take about 8 hours. This is not a backpacking trip so you won’t have to carry all of your overnight gear. When we get back to the campground we’ll relax by a nice fire and have a tasty dinner and s’mores! The campground has free bathrooms and coin-operated showers (several quarters). We’ll return to UVa on Sunday whenever y’all feel like going.
Outdoors at UVa provides:
Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast, bug spray, camping fee, and if you need: sleeping bag and pad, tent, and a seat in a car.
You must bring:
Lots of water (1 liter if not more), Saturday lunch, hiking boots preferable but sneakers o.k., bathing suit, sun tan lotion, flashlight and warm clothes for nighttime, musical instrument if you have one for playing around the campfire (spooky stories good, too!)
