Weekend at Bern.. Mcafee’s.

-The Plan-

Friday the 25th ::
Depart from Charlottesville at 1500 *(& 1900). Arrive in the Salem/Roanoke area cca. 1700 *(&2100). *Meet some AT hikers at the homeplace for dinner. Recreation.
Slumber on the beds/couches of our parental homes.
Saturday the 26th ::
Head to McAfee’s Knob in the morning (15/20 min drive). Hike to the top (3.5mi via the fireroad) to a very very large abundance of brilliant boulders. Climb until our fingers are tender/raw. Take a break for lunch, naps and taping of hands and fingers. Continue climbing until we can no longer. Hike back down. Snag some grub. Recreation. Slumber once more at the casas.
Sunday the 27th ::
Head back to McAfee’s to hit the boulders within a mile of the parking lot (0.05mi/0.5mi/1.25mi).
Then head back to Charlottesville

This trip is not for *new climbers as a safety precaution.

In the event of rain or alien invasion Saturday – we’ll go to Rise Up
Currently the weather is 30% rain.. if this increases the trip may cancel as hiking 3.5 and then getting a downpour only to hike back down through it may be the definition of purgatory.
