Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Next weekend (the beginning of September) will be our last good chance to shirk our responsibilities and go backpacking before homework hits us heavy. I’ve had my eye on the Three Ridges loop for sometime now, and this is the perfect opportunity to go. The weather will be great, the views pleasant, and the woods relaxing: you will love yourself for coming along.
The hike will be an overnight, and we’ll do 7 miles each day. There’s a shelter and a creek at the campsite, and beautiful views and waterfalls along the trail. Ideally, we’ll be back by 3:00 on Sunday with plenty of time left to prepare for the week. Be aware that this hike has a lot of climbing, so you need be in good shape!
You should bring:
– a backpack
– tent (we can figure out tent-mates)
– sleeping bag or blanket
– at least 3L of water. There will be a refill stream where we camp
– food for yourself – oatmeal packets, protein bars, trail mix, ramen, and beans are all good choices)
– a light jacket
– headlamp or flashlight
– your classiest ODC shirt
As always, the gear room can loan you any of the gear for this trip 🙂
