OVERVIEW

There have recently been some issues with people either not knowing how to operate Whisperlites or with the Whisperlites running poorly during camping trips. This workshop intends to address both issues.

We will go over how to setup, light, and operate a Whisperlite. In the process we will probably find some stoves that are operating poorly and go over field cleaning/troubleshooting. These skills can be the difference between a hot, delicious stew and dried hard pasta. If we find any stoves that need more work, we can take them apart, go over who the whole stove works, and try to fix them while the food is cooking It is all useful information.

After lighting and fixing the stoves, we can make one or more backpacking dishes depending on the attendance. Afterward we will enjoy them for dinner.

If people are interested, we can briefly discuss how to turn your favorite stove top recipe into something you can make in the woods. This skill will allow you to diversify away from ramen, lipton, and oatmeal.

As a result of the food, there will be a fee of about $3-5 depending on the number of people and the grocery bill. Please bring cash. It will be a delicious and cheap dinner.

Location will be my house so the stoves don’t need to be transported. It is a short walk from campus, Gooch-Dillard bus stop, or you can drive.

If you have any good recipes to bring or request, let me know. I haven’t finalized a menu.

Bring: bug spray! $5, preferably in ones.
Club provides: stoves
