Whitewater Kayaking (the Peoples Choice)

OVERVIEW

UPDATE 4/19:
Walnut creek intro session first, meeting at my place at 0900, followed by a river trip (most likely the “Middle/Lower” Maury River)

Bring non-cotton layers, bathing suit, towel, and $ for a stop at Sheetz if you want to pickup lunch food there on the way to the river.

The rest of my office is taking vacation, so I’ve been encouraged to take time off as well… So I usually PADDLE on those days (Rain, snow or shine) and need some company!

What we do depends on who signs up, and what the Lord Varun (god of rain) decides to bless the rivers with between now and then. But the venue will likely be something at the Beginner level.

Ideally, I’d like to actually paddle a river but if there’s sufficient interest in an intro course, we’ll do that instead. Or perhaps both! (Intro trip first for those who need it, followed by a river trip).

Water is still chilly, so I’m going to set the initial trip size to 5 as that’s the # of semi-drytops & wetsuits the club has. If you have your own boat and gear and can transport it – you’re automatically in. I’ll probably need at least 1 driver to either pick people up at (Echols?) and/or assist with shuttle if we actually make it to a river.

In the questions sections please indicate if you’d like to do an intro class, paddle a river, or both. And indicate any time constraints you have. Don’t freak out about the trip times, I’m free all day and can make some adjustments if it suits the masses. (I doubt I’ll be able to please everyone, but I’ll try).
