OVERVIEW

The basics: After driving to beautiful Jay Peak, Vermont, you will spend four AMAZING days skiing/snowboarding. Jay Peak is known for the freakish amount of snow it receives each year, and we are planning on taking advantage of it again this year. Also unique to Jay are the extensive glades which cover the mountain, they pretty much let you ski or board anywhere you want! Having been there before, I would say the description at http://www.jaypeakresort.com/en/jay_peak/9/ is very accurate as to what the mountain provides. The estimated cost of the trip is $220, which for a week in a place like Jay is a STEAL!

ITINERARY:
Sun. Jan. 7: Arrive at Jay Peak in the Afternoon/Evening
Mon. Jan. 8: SKI/BOARD
Tues. Jan. 9: SKI/BOARD
Wed. Jan. 10: Free Day (see description below)
Thurs. Jan. 11: SKI/BOARD
Fri. Jan. 12: SKI/BOARD
Sat. Jan. 13: Drive back to Charlottesville/Home

WHAT DO I GET FOR $220?
1) Lift Tickets ($104 for the week, could be less)
2) Lodging ($116, assuming 20 people)
3) Breakfast/Dinner ($0, provided by the club)
4) Gas (up to $80 covered by the club per car)

WHAT IS NOT INCLUCED
1) Lunch (We will eat on the mountain, plan for ~$6/day)
2) Rentals (~$30/day, in the process of finding out group discount)
3) Cost of “Free Day” Activities
4) Gas (anything over the $80/car limit)

WHO SHOULD SIGN UP?
Skiers and boarders of all levels are welcome. If you have any previous experience Jay will have something that fits your level of expertise. By signing up here you are saying that you are at least 90% sure you will be attending. By November 1st, the sign up deadline, you must be 99.9999% sure you can attend. If it is too early for you to make this commitment, but would like to go, please email me, and I will see what we can work out.

LODGING DETAILS
We will be staying in one large house, only about a 10 minute drive from the slopes. Check it out: http://www.jaypeakskiing.com/AHituni.htm Since the house only has 15 beds, some people will have to crash on couches or the floor each night. The process for determining who doesn’t get a bed will be very fair though (read: “First come, first serve” ) The cost of lodging assumes 20 people, so if more people sign up the cost will be adjusted.

FREE DAY
There are many other “Outdoorsy” activities in which you can participate in the area. Snowshoeing, ice fishing, dogsled rides, and snowmobile rentals are just some of the different things that can be done with the “free day.” Last year most of the group traveled to Montreal (only about 2 hours away) and spent the day sight seeing.

PAYMENT/WAITLIST
I will require a deposit of $100 by November 10th to make sure you keep your spot on the trip. This will not be refundable, but if you find someone to take your spot it will be transferable. Upon signing up everyone will be waitlisted. Once I have received your money you will be officially added to the trip.

POTENTIAL DRIVERS
As I mentioned before, Jay is known for the freakish amount of snow it receives each year. By signing up to drive please be aware that you will not only be driving all the way to Vermont, but you will be driving on hilly, snow-covered roads while you are there!

HELP MAKE THIS TRIP EASIER TO ORGANIZE!
I will be departing from either C-ville or the D.C. area very early on January 7th. In the comments section of the trip questionnaire please provide information about where you will be on the 7th (so I know where potential drivers will be originating from, and where they will be picking up passengers), as well as if you plan on returning to C-ville or your home after the trip. If you are not sure at this time, that is fine, just let me know. If you are able to be congregate in C-ville on the 7th please let me know that as well. Thanks a lot!

–Please email me with any questions you may have about the trip.
