This trip is meant to create a comfortable and welcoming space for women, trans, and femme members of the outdoors club, particularly in a male-dominated sport like rock climbing! Please only sign up if you identify as a woman, trans, or femme.
Is anyone else looking to procrastinate studying/projects for finals? If so, join us at the NRG this weekend!
The idea is to meet on Saturday morning and drive directly to a crag at the New. Where we go will depend on who signs up and their ability level. While we can bring quads to do TR, I would prefer everyone can lead climb/belay at least a 5.7, which is why I’m putting this down as an intermediate trip. My hope is to set up a range of climbs depending on what people are comfortable climbing. If you’re a confident lead-climbing inside but have never actually lead-climbed outside, that’s totally ok! If you also want to project something hard, I can probably set climbs up to a 5.12a, though not on slab (sorry but sport climbing hard slab is terrifying).
Once we finish climbing, it’s time for the classic Pies & Pints for dinner. Then to the AAC to set up camp, maybe make a campfire, and sleep!
Sunday morning we’ll be up early to get in a few pitches before probably cleaning up at the crag at noon to be on the road by 1 pm at the latest because I work at Slaughter at 4 pm.
