OVERVIEW

Wow, I’ve forgotten how to do this but I’m back for YAR and after some vibe check rides, I’m ready to get my bike on. Sure every condition isn’t perfect but that’s no excuse not to bike given an opportunity like this.

We don’t have a specific route in mind but I want to ride some of my favorite trails that I haven’t ridden yet this week. Spider, Foxhaven, Skidmarks, Voodoo Child, and (Happy) Birthday (Cake) come to mind so we might start at O’Hill and head to Heyward. You all know more about the recent rain than me so plan to be flexible based on trail conditions. While I’d place some of these trails on the middle to the higher end of the intermediate spectrum, I’ll be taking it slow so keep that in mind. Reach out to us if you’re on the fence!

We’re hoping for this trip to be on the longer end for a local ride, roughly 12 miles 2000 feet (a small portion of which will be on the road), so keep that in mind.

If you don’t have your own mountain bike or helmet, let us know on the trip questionnaire and we’ll try to secure you a club bike/helmet. Currently somewhat limited on bikes but we’ll do our best!

You bring:
– Water: 2-3L
– Food: snacks and even a lunch?
– Appropriate clothing/footwear
– Gloves are recommended for keeping the fingers working in the cold and protecting your hands from scrapes if you fall – $10 Mechanix work gloves are great
– A bag to carry your water and food: the club has some daypacks if you need one (let us know in the questionnaire)

What we bring:
– Bikes
– Helmets

Schedule:
10am – meet at shrack and grab bikes
10:15am – bike bike bike
12:30pm – return to shrack and put up bikes
