You Want to Be Sharp for Finals Szn? Hike Sharp Top!

OVERVIEW

my class + lab from 1-3pm got canceled, so why not take advantage of that extra time given to me to study by blowing off my books and hiking a mountain instead?? if you still have class during this time, check the syllabus for the attendance policy & if you have an absence left…you know what to do.

sharp top has been on my list for ages but i’ve never gotten around to it until now!! the temperatures look pretty mild for monday (compared to a near 90° tuesday) & it looks like they’ll be some clouds, which makes it perfect for this hike. it’s only 3 miles out & back, but rated as a moderate-hard hike for its steepness. we will be workin our booties all the way to the sharp top, but the 360° views will make it so worth it. for relatively experienced hikers, it says it should take about 45 min to the top & for more basic hikers its estimated 1.5 hours, so im going to plan the times with a little cushion just in case! for more details: https://www.theoutbound.com/virginia/hiking/hike-the-sharp-top-trail

the plan:
9:30 AM leave echols
11:15 AM arrive at trailhead
12:30ish picnic lunch at peak
1:15ish hike back down
2ish leave sharp top
3:45ish i have a 5pm so i’m saying we we will be back by 4 at the latest!

to bring:
– 2L+ of water
– lunch / snacks
– sturdy shoes (it is rocky)
– no stress / finals worries allowed
– good playlists, good stories & good times
– psa: trail is dog friendly, so if you have a furry friend whose in decent shape please bring along
