OVERVIEW

Disclaimer: This is a trip for NRGE so please sign up for the main carpool (https://outdoorsatuva.org/adventure/nrge-2024-main-carpool/) and pay the trip fee after you have been let onto this trip! You cannot go on this trip if you are not also on the main trip!

Come One Come All to this stunning and spectacular hike at NRGE where you will have the amazing opportunity to join us on this 8.5-mile hike (could be shorter depending on what everyone wants). First, we will arrive at Kaymoor’s Miners Trailhead and take off on this scenic loop around the Gorge that may pass by a very cool coal mine (no skeletons here don’t worry!). After looping near the Fayetteville Trailhead we may embark on Long Point Trail for a scenic view of the New River Gorge Bridge. This is an Intermediate Hike so have at least some hiking experience, but our pace won’t be too fast and we can always cut distance if needed, so don’t worry we won’t check your mile time. Excited to see y’all at NRGE!

Extremely general timeline:
10:00 AM: Meet at main campground
10:20 AM: arrive at kaymoor miners trailhead
After: hike (how long depends on group decision)
3:30 PM at the latest: back at the cars
4:00 PM at the latest: back at the campground for evening activities

Unfortunately, neither of us has a car so driver(s) are needed! If you have a car you will get priority for this trip which will also get you onto the main NRGE carpool. We will let more people onto this trip if a second driver signs up.

You bring:
Hiking Boots that can get wet
Plenty of water, better to bring too much than not enough
Snacks/lunch
Layers (plan for chilly weather, but keep an eye on the forecast)
Bag to put all of that in
