DEMOCRACY TIME! TIME TO VOTE FOR YOUR P, VP, & T

My beloved club,

As my reign of terror comes to a close, I reflect on yet another wonderful year of running around with you all. It has been an honor to skin my knees, touch rocks, and feel the sun on my skin in the company of such wonderful, strange, amazing people. Truly a blessing. Love you all.

Anyways, it is time to elect your next president, vice president, and treasurer! Please vote by Sunday, April 19 at noon to ensure your vote will be counted.

Vice President ODC Manual Version S23 (Public)

Treasurer ODC Manual S23 (To Be Public)

Voting Spiel:

To be a voting member of ODC you must meet ONE of the following criteria:

  • led 2 trips this school year
  • attended 4 trips this school year

you cannot vote if you do not meet this criteria!

Our most public-facing positions (president, vp, treasurer). The other available positions (Gear masters, PBR, etc.) will still be voted on solely within the Officer Corps. The current system attempts to balance the voice of our members with the inside knowledge and experience of the Officer Corps to make the best, representative choice in who leads the club. We use weighted bias voting which works similarly to grade category weighting.

Last year we voted to maintain the 69% Officer, 31% Member weighting system which will apply this year.

We understand that this system of voting is kind of confusing, so here is an explanation using a 69/31 weighting.

  • [members vote % for each candidate] *0.31 = percent of popular vote received
  • [officers votes % for each candidate] *0.69 = percent of officer vote received
    • add up percentages received for each candidate- majority vote wins
  • Flaky Side Crimp receives 35% of the popular vote and River Rat V receives 65% of the popular vote
  • Flaky Side Crimp receives 50% of officer vote and River Rat V receives 50% of the officer vote

Calculations:

popular vote FSC = (35*0.31) = 10.85%

officer vote FSC = (50*0.69) = 34.5%

total vote FSC= (10.85+34.5) = 45.35%

popular vote RRV = (65*0.31) = 20.15%

officer vote RRV = (50*0.69) = 34.5%

total vote RRV = (20.15+34.5) = 54.65%

River Rat V WINS

The officers will vote on Sunday the 19th and you will be notified of the final selections (early polling suggests a Kulp presidency) shortly thereafter.

Peace, love, and dirt,
