Dear friends,
After what has been a very difficult year, we are almost ready to say goodbye to 2020. This email serves two purposes: to keep you updated on our work towards promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within our club, and to look forward to how we can continue this work in the new year.
This past year, we created a new sexual misconduct policy, a no-questions-asked financial aid policy, and raised over $600 for organizations supporting accessible outdoor education and Black Lives Matter organizations. As part of the work that we are doing to make our club a more welcoming space for Black People, Indigenous people, and People of Color (BIPOC), we are establishing a role within our officer corps called the chair for Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
As the role of DEI chair is brand new, the officer in this position will have an opportunity to make it their own. I encourage all BIPOC members and members from underrepresented demographics in the outdoors to apply for this role.
