Sup, Shredheads?
Due to the massive volume of checkouts we’ve been having we’re trying out some new things this week.
- Please return gear on either Monday or Tuesday so it can be available for checkout on Wednesday and Thursday. If this doesn’t work for you send the officers an email to arrange a time to bring your gear back before the Wednesday gear room.
- If you are returning a headlamp, you can bring just the headlamp back to our first ever headlamp drop hours. These will be 8-10pm in Thornton Stacks.
It is of the utmost importance that you bring your gear back as early as possible because last week we had people trying to check out gear back on Wednesday that couldn’t because people didn’t bring back gear until Thursday. Additionally, since we’ve been having problems with not enough gear for people to check out, we’re going to be enforcing gear check out suspensions for members with overdue gear. You can avoid penalties by bringing back overdue gear this week before we implement our new policy.

Club trips have priority for access to club gear
Once you’ve got an idea for a specific trip that you want to lead, send the officers an email with a description and your qualifications for leading that sort of trip. Remember, climbing, caving, and kayaking trips have special rules!
Please take some time to read through the Leaders Manual (http://www.outdoorsatuva.org/resources/?LeadersManual) and Leading Trips (http://www.outdoorsatuva.org/resources/?LeadingTrips) pages under Member Resources on the club website.
Please be aware that if you are joined on a trip, and you do not show up, or you drop out at the last minute, you are depriving another member of a spot on that trip.
No-shows and last-minute absences not only hurt trip attendance, but they also make logistics more complicated.
If a member is reported for two absences, trip leaders are permitted to take this into account when moving people off wait lists.
