OFFICER APPLICATIONS!!!! and gear room time change

First and foremost… My gear room tomorrow, Wednesday, is now moved to 2:15pm.

Without further ado:

It is my utmost pleasure to announce that officer applications will be due by 11:59PM, Wednesday, November 18 to be considered in this cycle.

What do officers do?

ODC is a very large club with many moving parts. We each take on responsibilities and try to work together to keep the club running. Sometimes it’s hard and sometimes it’s easy but we love it so we put in the work.

There are countless tasks to do and we kind of split them up more or less by who wants to do what. Lizzie, our treasurer, expertly manages our finances and works with the gearmasters to request funding from the school. Mellis and Jonathan work to keep track of all our gear, make sure it stays in good shape, and make sure that our gear library supports our adventures as well as it can. You can thank Moldberg and Afton for organizing Trees and Sprouts and GIllian for how fun Yarty was. Ben is furiously repairing the website every time it breaks and coordinating with some awesome CS students who are rebuilding it for their capstone. We organize mega trips and events, answer questions, host gear rooms (mine is tomorrow at 2:15pm, not 6pm), and do one million other things as they come up but the thing that we prioritize the most is GETTING PEOPLE OUTSIDE!!!!! If you have any questions about what we do please email us (outdoors-officers@virginia.edu) or ask us when you see us.

Should I apply to be an officer?

Are you very passionate about getting people outside? Do you love this community and want to give back to it? Are you an active member who attends UVA and has led 3 trips? Then apply!!!!

What if I haven’t led 3 trips?

You have until November 18!!!!!!

How do I apply?

Fill out this form!!!!!

Take your time and don’t use AI. You have a while so there’s no rush to submit.

What if I get rejected?

Each application cycle, a lot of people apply but we can only take a few. Save your responses to give yourself a template to work off of next time. We want to see that you really care about the club – continue to lead trips, be a part of the community, and apply again next time.

Thanks for reading. Apply!!!!!!!!!! Let us know if you have any questions.

Peace, love, and dirt

Evan and the Officers
