The forecast for Friday looks to be in the mid-50s which is perfect weather for a trail run through the hills around C-ville. I was thinking of doing one of several loops through O-Hill or Camp Holiday Trails to cover something around 7 or 8 miles. Pace and everything is quite flexible. I’m going to set the trip to 5 …

Trail Running at O-Hill/Camp Holiday Trails
The forecast for Friday looks to be in the mid-50s which is perfect weather for a good trail run through the hills around C-ville before the leaves come and obscure the views. I was thinking if doing one of several loops through O-Hill or Camp Holiday Trails to cover something between 7 and 10 miles. Pace and everything is flexible, …

Trail Run Down to Camp Holiday Trail/Foxfield Running Trail
With spring here it seems like a good idea to get some nice runs in. This is a nice run along a mostly gravel road, if we just go out to camp holiday and back I believe it is about six miles, if we add on the Foxfield running trails that could add a few more miles. Pace a distance …

Rivanna Trail Run: Brandywine to Old Ivy
This four-and-a-half mile run is one of my favorite sections of the Rivanna Trail. We’ll start out at Echols, run up Old Ivy, onto the trail. We’ll cross Barracks, then 29, then 250, and end up in Greenbriar Park. We’ll then drive back. It is a pretty flat and easy section of the trail. For a trail description, see http://avenue.org/rivanna/trails.htm …
Rivanna Trail Run: Barracks to Ivy
As always, a relaxed and fun trail run. Those on this trip (or my behind O-Hill run) will have priority on Rivanna Trail runs that require driving. The Route: From Echols, right on Alderman, straight on past Darden to The Park. Into the trail, finding a way across the new exit off 250, then off the trail onto Old Ivy …
Rivanna Trail Run: Behind O-Hill
Come join on this easy run: 2 miles of trails and 2 of road. There are some hills, but for Charlottesville this is an averagely hilly run. As long as you can complete 4 miles of running in an hour (15 min/mile) you are welcome to come. We’ll start at the corner of Whitehead and Alderman (the AFC clocktower), run …
Morning Run
It’s not so unbearably hot in the morning. Anyone up for a wake-up jog? We’ll go for on a ~4 mile loop before the heat sets in for the day.

We’ll continue on that dirt road till we hit the Rivanna trail. We’ll take the Rivanna trail South till Fontain Ave, then head back, running past …
Amazing, Easy Runs, Part 2: Monticello (4 Miles)
Hey all, For anyone who enjoyed my Ridge Road trip on the weekend of Western Michigan, here’s another of a similar flavor. We’ll drive to the base of Monticello’s hill, then run up on dirt and boardwalk-type trails to the entrance to Monticello. The first 1.5 miles are up hill, but it is not a difficult hill. On the run …

This trip is designed for brave climbers and NON-climbers looking for a unique and fun adventure! The trip takes place at Nelson Rocks on the VA/WVA border. Trail Run at Walnut Creek Park
Gotta love the spring forward time change. What better way to celebrate it by doing a nice after work/class trail run? I plan on doing a 5 mile loop at a moderate pace. You can join me, run the same loop at your own pace, or run a different section. We’ll group like-runners when we get there. We’ll meet for …
Friday Afternoon Run in the Country
I got a lot of interest back regarding running in some places outside of Charlottesville. Sorry for the delay in having the trip happen. We’ll meet at Bonnycastle Circle, and drive out to Ridge Road, which is about 10 miles west of town. It’s a packed-dirt road along farms and woods, with very little traffic. In addition to the feeling …

So in tribute to all this glorious rain, let’s head over to O-hill Friday and reap all the benefits. We’ll meet at Echols at 3:30pm, run up to the Observatory and hit the mud from there. I was thinking a 45 …

After posting two movie nights in just a matter of days; I thought it necessary to make up for such sedentary events by offering a grueling day hike. This hike is on the VA/ WVA border. (IT is not to be confused with Great North Mountain) The hike will begin on top of a ridge that has a very exposed …

Trail Running at Jones Run
I want to go run the Jones Run / Doyle River loop this Saturday. It’s about 7 miles. I’m not too into speed, and parts of it are steep, so it’ll probably be a slow pace or walking at times (gasp). Plus, it’s a really nice area and I might want to enjoy a little bit (there’s a swimming hole …
